Practice for the Pennsylvania commercial driver’s license knowledge tests. The questions follow the federal CDL manual that every state builds its tests on, and every answer is explained.
Pennsylvania CDL basics
- Pennsylvania issues a Knowledge Test Authorization first. It is valid for one year and gives you three tries at the knowledge tests.
- At least 15 days must pass between getting the permit and taking the skills test.
- You have one year to pass all knowledge and skills tests, or you apply again.

- General knowledge
Required for every CDL. Inspection, vehicle control, hazards, cargo and the rules.
- Air brakes
Compressor, tanks, warnings and the brake checks. Needed to drive any air-braked vehicle.
- Combination vehicles
Coupling, uncoupling, rollovers and trailer skids. Needed for Class A.
