Practice for the California commercial driver’s license knowledge tests. The questions follow the federal CDL manual that every state builds its tests on, and every answer is explained.
California CDL basics
- You need a regular California Class C license before you apply for a CDL.
- The commercial learner permit is valid for 180 days and can be renewed once. You hold it at least 14 days before the skills test.
- You get three attempts per knowledge test. Fail the same test three times and the application expires.
- An original Class A or B license also needs an extra 15 hours of behind-the-wheel training.

Coupling, uncoupling, rollovers and trailer skids. Needed for Class A.
