Arizona CDL basics
- An Arizona commercial learner permit is valid for up to 12 months.
- You hold the permit at least 14 days and complete the required Entry Level Driver Training before the skills test.
- You need a score of at least 80 percent on each CDL knowledge test, and you wait until the next business day to retake one.
- Knowledge tests are taken at an MVD office. Skills tests are given at listed MVD locations and some public and private organizations with MVD-certified testers.
- You must be 18, and applicants under 21 can get only an intrastate CDL valid in Arizona.
- You need a physical from a medical examiner on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners, and the certificate must be renewed every 24 months or sooner.
Arizona can add its own rules on top of the federal manual. Check the official site for Arizona Motor Vehicle Division (ADOT MVD) before your test. DMVZone is not affiliated with any state agency.
