The NJ MVC requires an appointment for every road test. The test lasts about 10 to 15 minutes. Some centers use an off-road area and others a public road course, and you are told which when you book.

You must bring your own car. Self-parking cars, a missing or expired inspection sticker, missing decals, tinted windows and defective brakes, tires or seatbelts will get the car rejected. The examiner must be able to reach the foot or parking brake.

No driving school with an office in Salem was found on the MVC licensed school list. AAA South Jersey Driving School names Salem County as a service area and offers car use at the test site, so it is the best verified option here.

Before testing you must complete supervised practice: 6 months if you are under 21 in the GDL program, 3 months if you are over 21 in GDL, and 20 days outside GDL.
